Take inspiration from the extraordinary penguins painted by local artists in the Hīkoi o te Taoka exhibition on display in the Beautiful Science Gallery and create your own incredible work of art.

Each guest will be provided with a finely crafted penguin statue, art materials, and the guidance of Frank’s expertise. As you shape your own vision of this beloved bird, enjoy beverages and light refreshments in a relaxed, inspiring atmosphere. At the end of the evening, you’ll take home a unique creation – an artwork that reflects both your hand and your spirit.

Frank Gordon is a Dunedin-based artist, originally hailing from Glasgow. He came to New Zealand in 2000 and immediately fell in love with Dunedin, its harbour, hills, and natural wonders. He tries to explore and express on canvas the story of people, the highs and lows, the dreams, quirks, and absurdities of being human.

Tickets are limited to ensure an intimate and memorable experience.

Proceeds from ticket sales support hoiho (yellow-eyed penguin) conservation, helping protect one of Aotearoa’s most treasured native species.

All materials provided. This workshop includes a beverage on arrival and light refreshments. Please email events@tuhura.nz with any dietary requirements a minimum of seven days ahead of time.
