Holly McPhee joined the folk club at University, starting with unaccompanied ballads and then moving to country and indie folk covers.

Holly and Denis performed together with Imogen Coxhead as Spring Tide for a couple of years before life took each of them to different parts of the country. Now after a handful of years away in Northland and some sporadic Spring Tide performances, Holly is back in Dunedin and singing with Denis as MIA.

MIA continues the focus on vocal harmony, sometimes a cappella and sometimes lightly accompanied by guitar and low whistle.
