- **Event Description**: The biennial Hope and Sons Art Awards Exhibition, hosted by the Otago Art Society (OAS), opens on 14 March. 176 artworks, selected from 335 entries, will be on display until 11 April in the Society’s galleries upstairs in the historic Dunedin Railway Station. 

The Awards are being offered nationally for the first time in 2026, in response to artist feedback. Previously the Awards had been offered to South Island artists. 170 artists feature, ranging in age from 12 years to late 80s.

First, second, and third place awards will be presented and a young artist award. The value of the awards is $5000, $3000, $1000 and $500 respectively. A people’s choice award of $500 will be presented at the conclusion of the exhibition.
