- **Event Description**: Here at Kawe Mahara we are keen to involve volunteers in making digitised copies of the 989 submissions made to Parliament during the Homosexual Law Reform (HLR) campaign 1985-86 available to researchers and students.

You can help by transcribing the handwritten submissions, by correcting the OCR and AI-generated text of the typewritten submissions, or by simply reviewing and checking the work of others.

We will use a fun and easy to learn tool called From the Page where volunteers compare the picture of a submission page at left with the extracted text at right and type in corrections where they are needed.

Bring your own laptop (there are plenty of power points). A tablet would be OK for setting up the Transcriber account in From the Page, and getting oriented, but is not recommended for long periods of working with transcription text.
