Pakistan Election 2018: The Big Debate


On 25 July 2018, Pakistan holds a General Election with the current poll frontrunner being Imran Khan, cricketer turned politician.

In this big debate, we ask:
Is Imran Khan ready for the top job in one of the world's most troubled and strategically important nations?
Chaired by Dr Abdullah Yusuf, Lecturer in Politics and International Relations, University of Dundee, our two speakers will be:
For the Motion:

Alamgir Khan is a tutor and PhD student in Politics and International Relations here at Dundee. Before joining us, Alamgir taught in a public university in Khyber Paktunkhwa province, Pakistan, where Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) party ruled for five years. Alamgir holds an MPhil in International Relations from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
Against the Motion:

Faisal Yaqoob is also a PhD student in Politics and International Relations here at Dundee as well as a fellow at the Graduate Institute of Development, Lahore School of Economics. Faisal holds an MA in Human Rights from the University of Salford and is a regular contributor to The Nation - a daily newspaper based in Lahore, Pakistan.
