- **Event Description**: Join us for a free tour of Dundee Balgay Cemetery.About this EventJoin the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for a free tour of Dundee (Balgay) Cemetery, led by one of our experienced volunteer tour guides.Our tours are free to the public, but if you would like to support us then please consider donating to our charity The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF).https://foundation.cwgc.org/donate/MEETING POINT is inside the Glamis Road entrance at the waiting room/toilets.During the tour you will learn about the history of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and about the heroic actions and self-sacrifice of some of our casualties buried in the cemetery.The cemetery contains service plots of both wars. Most of the 1914-1918 burials are in a war plot which also contains a Cross of Sacrifice and a Screen Wall memorial, which lists those whose graves are not marked by headstones. Most of the 1939-1945 war burials are scattered.The tour lasts approx. 90 mins and covers about 1000 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground and slopes. There is wheelchair access.There is parking on the entrance road leading from Glamis Road to the waiting room. There are on-site facilities, including toilets. Please bring water if required.Please come dressed for the weather and wear suitable footwear.Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the cemetery.Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
