- **Event Description**: I know you all love waterfall hikes, so here's another one in Hamilton! 

What to expect:
-12km hike suitable for strong beginners and intermediate-level hikers (option to end at 6km)
- 329 m elevation gain (some up and down, some inclines)
- forested paths with some technical hiking over tree roots and rocks 
- 40 min lunch break (bring your own lunch) at Smokey Hallow Falls 
- public washroom at the Walmart
- free parking - huge lot 
- hike will finish around 5:00pm 

Hike includes:
* free parking 
* yoga stretches to warm up before we start the hike and again at the end of the hike 
* relaxed pace (we are NOT a fast hiking group). We wait for everyone and slow down when needed/stop and take breaks as needed.
* mindful meditation includes forest bathing (still, quiet time in the forest). We will find a spot in the forest to practise for a minimum of 10 minutes of silent meditation. 
* lunch break at the half-way point (bring your own lunch). 

What you need to bring:
- wear hiking shoes/hiking boots/waterproof shoes (check the weather before you leave) 
- pack at least 8 cups of water or hot beverage (4 × 500ml bottles = 8 cups of water or beverage ?)
- lunch or snacks and a backpack to carry them in
- optional: hiking poles. I have an extra set of hiking poles if anyone needs a set. 
- winter hiking: headlamp, flashlight in case we end up hiking back in the dark
- icers/crampons must be in your bag at all times (for icy trail conditions) - buy from Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Amazon, MEC, Costco, Mark's etc. Get the ones with chains and spikes. 

Be prepared for all conditions on trail including mud, ice, and snow.  


MEETING SPOT: Free large parking 

Waterdown Walmart @ 90 Dundas St E
Park in the Walmart Supercentre lot (free large parking lot) and meet in front of Walmart.  

MEETING TIME: 
Please arrive by 11:15am. I will guide everyone through a warmup and then we will start the hike.


REGISTRATION REQUIRED - 10 SPOTS
This meetup will be capped at 10 spots. To join, please reserve a spot by sending the meetup fee as outlined below:

Meetup fee: 
$30 before 6:00pm Thursday December 11
$35 after 6:01pm Thursday 

Please e-transfer to Event.Booking@hotmail.com and I will add you to the list! Include your NAME + "Smokey Hallow Hike" in the message.*  Please also include the $3.99 one time annual fee if this is your FIRST event in 2025.

Once you book your spot, send me a message to join our broadcast group for hiking announcements on WhatsApp. Meetup fees are final (no refunds). 

Hiking rules: 
1. Absolutely no smoking of any substance on the trail. 
2. No blasting loud music 
3. Arrive on time 
4. Be respectful and stay with the group 
5. Dogs on leash

Carpool Requests: 
I provide a carpool forum in the event where drivers and passengers can arrange with each other for rides. It is the responsibility of each hiker to find their own transportation. 

Cancelation policy:
-Meetup fees are final (no refunds once a spot has been booked and confirmed). Cancel 1 week (7 days) before an event for a credit towards another event. If the organizer has to reschedule an event for any reason, credit will be applied to the recheduled hike or kept on file for future use).
