You will leave this workshop with a meaningful little experimental tapestry, new skills and everything you need to continue practicing at home <3
Experimental weaving will have you working intuitively using old and new innovative methods all within the structure of the loom. We will set our intentions, sing a song together, weave, drink tea, eat soup, and bathe in the gloriousness of the slow movement ( (a cultural shift advocating for a less rushed, more intentional pace of life, prioritizing quality over quantity)) while tuning in to our ancient and artistic selves.
What you'll learn:
Frame loom setup & basic techniques
Finishing methods for strong and stable piece
Material as metaphor & weaving as meditation
What's included:
New, thrifted & local weaving materials provided
Weaving Needle
DIY frame loom (yes you get to bring home a loom!)
Tea!
and soup for lunch!
Bring from home (optional):
Yarn, fabric scraps, paper, found objects, natural materials (feathers, seaweed, bark), or anything that speaks to you! I'll help you integrate it all.
I am keeping this to a maximum of 10 people so I can be available to guide you one on one if needed.
