Workshop: An introduction to Ofsted’s inspection process, and how to prepare as an HEI
Ofsted will now be inspecting Level 4 and 5 apprenticeship provision, meaning many HEIs are now in scope.
Most HEIs are new to apprenticeships and are nervous about their quality assurance processes, and the anticipation of early monitoring visits and full Ofsted inspections.
Led by those who have conducted some of the first inspections with HEIs, SDN and Mesma are hosting a one-day workshop, providing an introduction to Ofsted’s inspection process, and how you can prepare.
Held on Wednesday, 6th March in London, the workshop will cover:
How Ofsted approach the inspection of HEI apprenticeship provision and what to expect
The process of inspection and the types of evidence Ofsted will be looking for
Dispelling myths and understanding the remit of Ofsted and the ESFA
The principles of good quality assurance - identifying key strengths and weaknesses to inform your Self Assessment Review (SAR)
Actions you can take to prepare leaders, managers and front-line delivery staff for the inspection process and good quality assurance
Insights from recent HEI apprenticeship inspections, and lessons that can be learnt
Why an SDN-Mesma workshop?
SDN and Mesma have been working with a number of universities on preparation for Ofsted, and have a detailed understanding of what this means in an HEI context. Our team also have significant experience of Ofsted inspections and have conducted some of the first inspections with HEIs for their apprenticeship provision.
Who this workshop is for?
For HEIs who are likely to be inspected by Ofsted in future, and who need a greater understand of the inspection process and how to prepare. This, for example, may include senior managers, mid-level managers or operational staff from Universities and other HE institutions.
Facilitators and speakers
The day will be facilitated by Louise Doyle and Carolyn Brownsea. Louise has helped to lead SDN’s work with over 1,000 apprenticeship organisations across the sector, including many HEIs. Carolyn Brownsea has been an inspector for many years, and has conducted a number of inspections for HEIs now delivering apprenticeships.
