Yoga for Stress, Anxiety & Depression
Stress - it seems to be everywhere and everyone is talking about it. For some of us stress takes on a fundamentally darker cloak and manifests in depression, anxiety, and even PTSD.
We will begin to discover:
- The systems involved with the physiology of stress
- The bodies response to stress and how to release some of the physical habits that lead to the cumulative effects of stress.
- The yogic principles for overcoming the diseases of stress
- Tools to build a foundation for emotional stability and happiness
Through the various practices of yoga we can learn how to find a calm center in the midst of stress, anxiety, depression, or PTSD and the events that may contribute to these.
Class will include lecture, candid discussion, exploration of philosophy of wellness, some physical yoga practice, breathing techniques, and home integration work.
Learn practical tools in a supportive atmosphere.
Class is led by a yoga teacher with practical, first hand experience of these diseases of stress !
"Yoga practices address the root cause of depression: the energy drain caused by the overreactions of our mind to the stresses of our world and the pressures of our fears and desires. By activating our innate mental, psychical and spiritual healing capabilities, Yoga practices strengthens our feeling of joy, peace, and connectedness." Richard M Brown, MD - associate professor at Columbia University
