The High Cost of Vacancy - Why Human Connection is Our Most Endangered Resource
Kelley J. Minor, LGSW, is a clinical therapist, educator, and founder of Curiosity Collaborative LLC, specializing in trauma-informed care, attachment healing, and the neuroscience of human connection. Her work blends clinical depth with accessible storytelling, empowering individuals and communities to cultivate resilience and authentic relational health.
We are living in the most connected era in human history, yet people have never felt more emotionally vacant. Our lives are filled with notifications, obligations, and numbing routines that pull us away from the one thing the nervous system is wired to depend on: real human connection. Behind the rise in anxiety, burnout, loneliness, and relational instability is a silent epidemic—disconnection masquerading as independence. In this talk, I explore how vacancy becomes a survival strategy, how it shows up in our homes, workplaces, and relationships, and why restoring genuine connection may be the most important act of resilience we can choose today.
