Preparation for the Practice of Inversions
The practice of inverted poses offers tremendous benefit for the yoga practitioner. They are supremely effective in balancing the control systems of the body and returning the nervous and endocrine systems to a state of vibrant, calm, and steady balance. The poses require some preparatory work to ensure they are done safely.
In this class we will focus on preparation that will increase strength, stability and flexibility in the body to safely practice inverted poses and hold them comfortably. We will practice establishing an even and smooth diaphragmatic breath that we can maintain throughout each pose. We will have the opportunity to practice inversions, but it is not a requirement of the class nor the main focus. We will never strain and never force a pose.
If you have ever been curious about inversions and how to practice them, this class will gently prepare and encourage you to move forward with your curiosity and learn in a safe environment. Each class will be comprised of relaxation, breath work, somatic movement, classic asana and at least 1 inversion with multiple variations to make it accessible to every body.
