This event is free and open to the public!
I think everything is collage. Mine are based on years of collecting and combining images and materials.
My process: my collage prints are composed in photoshop, then printed on archival watercolor paper using giclee’ process inks. I use chalk pastels, ink, and gel mediums to add to the work after I have printed.
More process: after I have made a photographic image of Isle Royale buildings on Wright or Johns Island, Chippewa or Tobin harbors, Cemetery Island or wildflowers on Belle Isle, I combine it with images taken in other travels, so for example sculptures and poppies in Parisian or Oulu, WI cemeteries and parks become part of Isle Royale narratives.
Since 1972, I have exhibited in American, regional & national & some international juried shows. I have a masters degree in Art; have taught in high schools in WI, New Jersey, & MN; and at University of MN, Duluth and University of WI, Superior.
For 27 years I owned and operated an Arts/Crafts and materials gallery Duluth, MN then for 15 years involved in a gallery on Madeline island, Lapointe, Wi.
For 9 years I was chair of the Superior Council for the Arts. Before that, in the early 70s I was Director of the Duluth Art Institute. Rural Northcoast Wisconsin, on the southern edge of Lake Superior has been home to me and my studio since the mid 70s.
