There’s no avoiding how timely a story like this is. Even as this note is being written, myself, the cast, and production team have no way of knowing for certain where our world will be when this play performs.
What is for certain is this production’s primary theme: Choice. Your voice matters. it holds power. As a collective, the decisions you as an audience make and how you choose to speak up have a direct impact on everyone around you. Listen to the play and to each other, allow yourself to be swayed, be respectful in your disagreement, and hold true to your convictions when you feel compelled to speak. This is your power. Never give that up.
“Rome shall never fall from foreign siege or wretched plague. If we but falter and do lose our freedoms, it will be so that we have slain it”
-Cassius (Adapted From Abraham Lincoln)
Also, this is Shakespeare. It’s filled with swords, ghosts, poetry and passion. It’s an escape. It’s supposed to be fun.
So have fun.
