How to Think Like An American: Philosophy Beyond Europe

Join us for the next School of Arts and Sciences Faculty Colloquium.

People in the U.S. understand themselves as “American” and rarely question this identity. In American classrooms, philosophy is primarily offered as a history western European thought, thereby disregarding thinking as a geographical and ecological activity. Dr. Bethany Henning proposes that the American mind has a distinctive, albeit developing, character.

Admission is free, and this event will be ASL Interpreted.
