An intimate evening of rarely heard French Baroque lute music performed on handcrafted Baroque lutes by Duluth maker Daniel Larson. “Courante” features elegant and expressive duets from 17th-century France, showcasing the delicate textures and refined beauty of this seldom-performed repertoire.

About the Artists:
Edward Martin has over 30 years of performing and teaching experience in the U.S. and Europe. A specialist in Renaissance and Baroque lute and vihuela, he served as Adjunct Professor of Lute at the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth for more than three decades. He has performed internationally and recorded extensively, earning critical acclaim for his work in early music.

Thomas Walker began classical guitar at age ten and turned to the lute in 1992. He has performed with several early music ensembles, including Ensemble Polaris and the Rose Ensemble, and frequently collaborates with fellow lutenists throughout the region. He currently serves as treasurer for the Lute Society of America.
