Jeff Gellman, the owner of Solid K9 Training in Rhode Island, is a real-world dog trainer who has trained thousands of dogs and owners on how to achieve a more balanced lifestyle, even with the most difficult of dogs. He is often the third, fourth, or fifth dog trainer that people hire. Jeff gets results. He is often able to achieve dramatic results within the first hour of training. Jeff enjoys working with aggressive dogs and dogs needing serious behavior modification. At Solid K9 Training, Jeff has worked with thousands of dogs from around the world, including those labeled as "untrainable".
Most "bad dogs" are the result of a simple lack of structure, leadership, and proper communication between dog and owner. Since 2014, Jeff has been traveling the country in his RV to share his knowledge of dog training at his Jeff Gellman Seminars. As the Seminar Tour expands internationally, Jeff is excited to share his expertise with an even larger audience, not only to help train more dogs but to help reduce the pain and struggle many dog owners are experiencing. With so many owners struggling with their dogs, this seminar offers a no-nonsense way to communicate, train and connect with your dog for real results.
Even the most out of control dogs can be quite easily trained in a short period of time utilizing the correct tools, techniques, and philosophies. In this seminar, along with many other skills, you will learn the unique Calm on Command training style that so many of Jeff's clients love. Jeff breaks down to a very simple process of YES/NO training. Train what you want your dog to do, and stop what you don't want your dog to do. Find the motivation for both and you will accelerate you and your dog's relationship.
Jeff’s seminars are open to all people and all dogs. His seminars are attended by shelter/rescue workers and dog trainers to families and individuals struggling with their dog. No matter the issues or problem behaviors you are dealing with, you are welcome to bring your dog to this seminar (with purchase of a working spot). Jeff will work tirelessly with you and your dog on both days focusing on your dog's most important issues. Some behaviors will be resolved immediately, and Jeff will provide all participants with a personalized plan of action to work on at home.
What will Jeff cover during his seminars? Here is a general overview of what you can expect to work on:
-Jeff’s original “Calm on Command” technique. Understanding your dog's "state of mind" and how to get your dog to be calm.
-Eliminating leash pulling in 5 minutes
-Learning the 5 Basic Commands (sit, down, place, heel, recall) with and without distractions
-Understanding the fundamentals of separation anxiety and how to eliminate it.
-What to do with aggressive behavior, how to stop the behavior, the rehab process and why it started in the first place.
-Behavior modification of dangerous behaviors such as fence fighting, counter surfing, eating feces, chasing cats and livestock, getting into the trash, resource guarding and jumping on people (just a few of the many examples).
This seminar will also focus on learning Jeff's low-level remote collar training philosophy and techniques, as well as how to responsibly correct your dog with the remote. If you do not have an e-collar, we very highly recommend E-Collar Technologies, specifically their Mini Educator ET-300 (one dog unit) or ET-302 (2 dog unit) models. We will have a handful available for purchase at the seminar, however, you are encouraged to purchase one prior.
What can you expect to work on with the remote collar? Here's a general overview:
-Finding your dogs working level
-Learning how and why the dog understands the pressure on/off switch and is motivated to learn
-Learning how the dog gets excited about the remote collar
-Preventing your dog from being collar smart
-Learning all the basic commands, Sit/Down/Place/Recall, and remote collar heeling
-Learning when to use a correction level with your dog
-Learning easy drills that you can train in your living room that transfer to large open areas
-Learning how to get off of prompt mode (using the collar every time you give a command) and move to correction mode (you only need it when the dog does not listen)
-Learning how we can fundamentally change the state of mind with the dog utilizing the remote at such low levels humans do not even feel them. (push button Calm on Command)
This is a full, two-day seminar and attending both days is crucial to you and your dog fully benefiting. The seminar will start promptly at 9 am and end at 5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
