»THE NEW POWER SOUL« So lautet das Motto der Funk-Band SuperStrut, deren Mitglieder sich aus ganz NRW zusammengefunden haben. „Uns geht es nicht um Chartplatzierungen, sondern um tanzbare Live-Musik – It’s all about the Groove.“ Exakt aus diesem Grund wurde SuperStrut 2014 von erfahrenen Musikern ins Leben gerufen. So steht heute eine 9-köpfige Band auf der Bühne, die oftmals noch durch Gastmusiker verstärkt wird.

Viele Titel des Repertoires sind gecovert, ohne jedoch einen Aufguss der üblichen Hits abzuliefern. „Wir sind alles andere als eine Top40-Band“, sagt die Band hierzu. „Die Grooves der späten Seventies, Acid-Jazz der Nineties und Songs im Stil von Cool & The Gang, Incognito, Jamiroquai, The Motet oder den Brand New Heavies sorgen für den modernen, knackigen Funk-Sound, der uns vom typischen Coverband-Gedudel abhebt.“

Satte Bläsersätze, mehrstimmige Vocals, treibende Percussion – dies alles gepaart mit dem präzisen Zusammenspiel der Rhythm-Section, machen jedes Konzert zu einem abwechslungsreichem und lebendigem Erlebnis. Das kann jeder bezeugen, der SuperStrut einmal live erlebt hat.
