Lorna Rose has been on the poetry scene for many years and headlined nights such as Hit the Ode, Speak Your Mind, and Jawdance. She has toured with Apples and Snakes and performed at various festivals including Glastonbury, Shambala and Moseley Folk.
She won her first Slam here at Caffe Grande Slam and her first collection ‘Caterpillar Soup’ was published by Verve Poetry Press. Her debut novel, ‘Hearth’ inspired by Greek mythology, was released earlier this year by local independent press Tenebrous Texts along with her second collection, ‘All the Colours of the Night’, poems from which she’ll be sharing this evening. The poems explore shameless nature worship, exquisite dissections of desire and luminous explorations of the connections between the earthly and the spiritual. Medieval she-wolves, lonely hotel rooms full of ghosts, a cacophony of birds, all held together by delicate stands of mycelium as transcendence grows out of the darkness.
"From looking fiercely into the face of loss, these poems bloom beautiful and surprising lessons gifted from the more-than-human world. Woven together with a touch of witchcraft and an indomitable spirit, they are a mantra for healing and acceptance in our often too disconnected world." Ciaran Hodgers
