Turning Towards Calm while Dealing with Challenging Times


Running for six weeks, starting on Wednesday, February 14th from 10.30am-12pm.

There is a deep wisdom within us, within our bodies and the invitation of this course is to meet difficult, challenging situations with our wise attention. Give yourself an opportunity to reflect on areas of growth, healing and improvement in your life. Identifying what is really enhancing your joy, fulfilment and contentment. Looking at what is diminishing, depleting your sense of happiness. Making a decision then to turn towards calm while making the necessary changes mindfully.

The Invitation.

"Abide With Me" Moving from Self-Neglect to Self-Care. "As I began to love myself I found that anguish + emotional suffering are only warning signs that I am living against my own truth. Today I know this is what it means to live an authentic life. This is authenticity." So the real invitation is to be an explorer, except in this case it is being an explorer of areas of growth, healing and maybe difficult emotions/ feelings that you may be resisting or just do not like. Find resilience within this landscape, find connection to your own inner strength by taking part in this six-week exploration.

Explore- My Values-my Choices-My Underlying Beliefs.

Discover- Self-Worth-Inner Compassion.

Leave With- Sense of Direction-Contentment-Awareness.



The Content:

There is a deep wisdom within us, within our bodies and the invitation of this course is to meet difficult, challenging situations with our wise attention. Give yourself an opportunity to reflect on areas of growth, healing and improvement in your life. Identifying what is really enhancing your joy, fulfilment and contentment. Looking at what is diminishing, depleting your sense of happiness. Making a decision then to turn towards calm while making the necessary changes mindfully.

We will look at how to handle difficult emotions by exploring the A-B-C of emotions- A~Awareness; B~Balance; C~Curiosity+Care. Throughout the course we will incorporate reflection on the real nature of change. We will look at the beliefs/values that are of true importance to you. Learning that we can heal self-limiting beliefs with a dedicated mindful and courageous presence. There will be an opportunity for supported goal-setting, while practising loving kindness, self-care and inner compassion.

We will explore how to strengthen this inner compassion while lessening self-judgment and negative self-talk. Developing your confidence in your capacity to "be with" whatever is arising in your life. Coming to an awareness of Mind-Senses-Soul-Spirit and connecting with all that lies within.



About Teresa

Teresa Larkin is a graduate of Mater Dei and U.C.D. She has over 30years experience as a secondary school teacher. Teresa has a lifelong commitment and involvement in meditation and mindfulness programmes. For the last twenty years she has facilitated retreats for adults and young people. This includes five years facilitating the Jigsaw Programme in the Sanctuary.
