Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Group

This is a support group for adults who have experienced trauma either as a child or as an adult. Traumatic events can lead to feelings of isolation and abandonment. Coming together with other people who have been through similar life experiences can enhance feelings of belonging and acceptance.
From childhood we learn to develop our sense of self and regulate our emotions through our interaction with others, experiencing trauma can greatly impact on our ability to develop or maintain these skills.

In this group, which is facilitated by Ruth Dixon, a fully qualified psychotherapist who has studied with trauma experts such as Babette Rothschild, Bessel van der Kolk and Ruth Buzsinski, members will experience the following benefits -
Sharing experiences with others
Feeling less alone
Developing new friendships
Helping others
Gaining support and hope from others facing similar experiences
Learning new skills for coping and enhancing your life
Becoming more self-confident
Feeling more in control
Feeling less anxious and afraid.

Ruth will also use core trauma recovery techniques to combat the manifestation of trauma on both mind and body such as panic attacks, hyper-arousal due to fight/flight activation.

It is intended for both confidentiality reasons and management to keep the group to a maximum of 10 members.
The cost will be €30 per session and card payments are accepted.
