The European Experience - lessons from abroad in housing.
The premise of this workshop is to learn from the experiences of other countries. No country has remained untouched by economic recession and its impact on housing systems, markets and society. Yet, perhaps because we are an island, learning from the experiences of other countries is perhaps something we have neglected.
This event brings leading European experts together so Irish policy-makers, academics and other stakeholders can learn from their experiences.
The event will also be opened and addressed by the UN Special Rapporteur on Housing, Ms Leilani Fahra.
Other speakers include: Dr Ed Turner [Head of Politics, Aston University] - Germany/Austria PRS; Ms Beth Stratford [economist, Leeds University] - macro economics of UK housing; Prof Dr Sergio Nasarre-Aznar [UNESCO Housing Chair, URV Tarragona] - repossessions in Spain; Prof Dr Adrej Holm [sociologist, Humboldt University] - affordable housing/political responsibility; Dr Teresio Poggio [independent housing analyst]; Dr Birgitta Gomez [copenhagenlearning].
