Lecture: Floral Fire in Iceland
Science Week Lecture
Though Iceland consists of vast areas of sparse vegetation, it is home to a flora as diverse and beautiful as its furrowed landscapes. In 'the Land of Ice and Fire' one encounters mossy volcanic deserts, sheer glacial valleys and roaring thermal vents. Gary Mentanko, from the National Botanic Gardens, looks at this rugged and expansive country whose plants, geology and history parallels Ireland in many respects.
