- **Event Name**: Heal What Hurts: From Emotional Trigger to Loving Presence
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 29 Aug, 2026 at 03:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Even yogis get triggered.

We may know how to breathe through a difficult asana, quiet the mind in meditation, and speak beautifully about presence and equanimity. But what happens when someone says the one thing that gets under our skin? When an old relationship pattern is activated? When the body suddenly tightens and, before we know it, we are reacting from a much smaller version of ourselves?

In this experiential workshop, author and longtime yoga teacher Maria Toso will introduce practices from her book, Heal What Hurts, published by Llewellyn Worldwide.

Maria describes an emotional trigger as more than a thought. It can be experienced as a contraction in the energy field of the body, a place where breath, prana, and our natural loving presence no longer seem to flow freely.

When that contraction is activated, we tend to go out: we lash out, numb out, or check out.

Heal What Hurts offers another possibility: go in.

Drawing upon yoga, meditation, somatic awareness, and more than a decade of training yoga teachers, Maria invites us to become curious about where emotional pain actually lives in the body and to meet that place with loving presence rather than resistance.

In yogic language, we might understand this presence as Purusha, the deeper Self that can witness what is happening without becoming completely identified with it. As contraction begins to soften, we create space to respond from that deeper Self rather than automatically reenacting an old pattern.

This two-hour workshop will include discussion, embodied practice, breath, meditation, and an introduction to the Heal What Hurts method approach to an actual trigger in your life. You’ll leave with practices you can continue using when life, relationships, and even your fellow yogis inevitably push your buttons.
