Free Mindfulness Workshop for Students and Graduates
Annmargaret Nolan, a Mindfulness expert, has very kindly offered a Complimentary Mindfulness Workshopfor students and graduates of Kingstown College.
Mindfulness is the cultivation of present-moment awareness – an open and friendly willingness to understand what is going on in and around you. It means living in the present moment, as best we can, noticing how we judge and ignore things or get carried away by the pressures of everyday life. It is noticing where we are right now with curiosity and kindness.
Mindfulness links beautifully with Coaching. It can offer the Coach a skilful resource to prepare for sessions, to use in session by being mindful of the thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations of both themselves and the client, to be aware of the wider contexts in which Coaches and clients operate, not to be overly attached to outcomes and to approach each session with openness, curiosity, non-judgement and compassion. Mindfulness exercises can be given to clients where appropriate as home practice. Mindfulness with clients can greatly reduce their reactivity to stress and improve their performance and capacity to learn and change. A regular, personal Mindfulness practice can offers Coaches a powerful tool for their own self-care.
