Presenting three hours of original music, with songs as pure and raw as the winter cold, Moon Looks On Pine The Pilcrow & Hatchlings will grace Whelan's main room for a beautiful night you will not want to miss!
Moon Looks On:
"moon looks on " encompasses a fusion of both modern contemporary folk and soul, with little dabs of reggae, blues and pop. The bones of the music are built around the songs told as stories and then layered on a pulsating bass and drums backline, then weaved together with the harmonically and melodically rich sound of violin and piano and two guitars playing counterpoint to one another.
A collaborative project made up of five multi-instrumentalists and songwriters, Hatchlings sound consists mainly of folk and jazz infusions, while remaining pop conscious.
"There seems to be contentment, anguish, and many of the vagaries of the everyday. The mood changes in their songs, like our own moods change, often without explanation or reason."
Pine The Pilcrow:
Pine ¶he Pilcrow write stilling, lullaby-esque music compromising of piano (Kevin Murray), cello (Robert Campbell), drums (Shay Sweeney) and Fiddle (Hannah Ryan) with a combination of gruff and angelic vocals. Melancholic melody lines evoke emotion as they drop onto your ear and cause a ripple of reflection.
