The route will follow along the eastern section of the Dublin Mountains Way (DMW), taking in Rathmichael Wood, Carrickgollogan summit and the Lead Mine’s chimney. We will then return to Shankill via the DMW passing by a Fassaroe Cross. The route surfaces include footpaths, county road, gravel trails and forest floor. On a clear day the views along the route are breathtaking.Date: Thursday, the 1st of January 2025 at 11:00.Duration: 3.5 to 4 hours, approximately.Distance: 12km approximately, 290m of climb.Degree of difficulty: Moderate.Bring: Sturdy waterproof footwear, rain gear, warm layers, water, and lunch.Meeting point: Outside Brady's Pub at 10:45.Public Transport: DART and Dublin Bus. See link below to TFI’s Journey Planner.Parking is available at Brady’s Pub for €3, or free if you dine or drink at the bar afterwards.
