Climate Change The Whole Picture - Trade Policy & Workers Rights

The first of Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan's series of lunchtime lectures, "Climate Change The Whole Picture", will focus on climate change, social policy and workers rights.  Aviva Chomsky, Professor of History and Latin American studies at Salem University, will give the context of coal miners in La Guajira and the human rights violations that they endure there. Clodagh Daly of the Latin Americal Solidatity Centre in Dublin will explain the Irish ESB powerplant's connection to the mines of Colombia. Barry Finnegan from ATTAC will provide the context of Ireland's trade policy and David Joyce from ICTU will highlight the essential need for a just transition from fossil fuels and the positive role that trade unions can play in this.

This event is open to journalists, NGO's, stakeholders and legislators who collectively share the responsibility of changing Ireland's policiy, proceedure and outlook towards improving our approach to tackle climate change.
