Drawing on both published and previously unexplored sources, she will then perform a selection of historic Highland melodies from the collections of Simon Fraser and Elizabeth Ross.Professor John Walsh (University of Galway) will present on the Irish Folklore Commission’s (as was) collection of Manx folklore in the 1940s, initiated by Éamon de Valera. This landmark project played a crucial role in preserving Manx cultural heritage and supporting the language revival that continues today.The event will feature a performance of Manx song by the Manx Gaelic choir, Caarjyn Cooidjagh (lit. 'friends together'), which was formed in 1990. The fifteen-strong choir sings original and unaccompanied arrangements of traditional and newly written songs in Manx.
