Join us for an evening of poetry to celebrate two new collections of poetry, Daughters of the House by Catherine Phil MacCarthy and The End of the World by Patrick Deeley, both by Dedalus Press.
Daughters of the House is Catherine’s fifth collection and opens with poems that arose during a residency in Paris, considering many Irish artists who were drawn to and lived in Paris. The collection reflects on moments in Irish history and honours historical figures such as Maud Gonne, Michael Davitt andSarah Purser.
The End of the World is Deeley’s seventh collection and shows impassioned concern with today’s uncertain times and the potential for calamity. His evocations of wet meadow, seashore, city street, desert and moorland move with wonder through the living moment and sing the desire to make life last.
