About the 'Because I am a Girl' Campaign:
The Because I Am a Girl movement envisions a world that values girls and young women, promotes their rights, and seeks to end injustice against them. Mirroring the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals that were set in 2015, the Because I am a Girl movement is dedicate to ensuring gender equality and upholding the rights of all girls and women by the year 2030. The Because I am a Girl moment aims to transform power relations to that girls can learn, lead, decide, and thrive.
To do this, we identify the key barriers to girls’ empowerment – child marriage, forced labour, sexual violence, early pregnancy and more – and we break them. Now, we are asking you to join our mission, so that together we can construct a new vision for girls across the developing world.
