- **Event Description**: This online briefing session is being hosted jointly by the National Federation of Voluntary Service Providers, Disability Federation of Ireland and the National Disability Services Association. The focus of the webinar is to provide an overview of current adult safeguarding policy and to update organisations on recent developments in relation to adult safeguarding at National /Department and HSE levels.

Specifically, the webinar will provide details on:

The Department of Health’s recently launched ‘National Policy Framework for Adult Safeguarding in the Health & Social Care Sector’ and the programme of policy and legislative measures that will expand and strengthen the existing supports and protections for adults at risk of abuse in the health and social care sectors.

The HSE’s programme of work in relation to adult safeguarding – implementation plan to be developed on foot of the launch of the National Framework and the initiatives to be completed during 2026.

Speakers:

Laura Casey, Principal Officer, Social Care Projects, Department of Health: Laura will provide an overview of the first national policy framework on adult safeguarding for the health and social care sector, published in December 2025, and the overall programme of policy and legislative measures as set out in the Framework.

Amanda Casey, HSE Chief Social Worker: Amanda will detail the work she has been engaged in since taking up post as Chief Social Worker with the HSE in August 2024 and current developments in adult safeguarding policy, practice and reform in the HSE.

The webinar will now run from 12 noon – 1.30pm and will consist of presentations from the 2 main speakers.
