RCSI in collaboration with GASOC (Global Anaesthesia, Surgery and Obbstetric Collaboration) invite applications from clinicians, designers, and engineers with an interest in global surgery to take part in a one-day, in-person innovation event at RCSI on 28th March.
Participants will be placed into multidisciplinary teams, bringing together diverse professional perspectives. Throughout the day, you’ll work through a series of guided human-centred design activities, supported by experts in surgery, design and engineering.
Together, teams will develop practical, innovative solutions to the challenge of post-operative monitoring in low-resource settings, where patients face increased risk after surgery due to factors such as low staffing levels, limited monitoring equipment, and wider systemic constraints.
This is a unique opportunity to collaborate, learn human-centred design methods, and contribute to meaningful innovation in global health.
Important: This is a full-day, in-person event with a pre-event online component. Places are limited and we are aiming to build teams with balanced skill-sets, so please only sign up if you can commit to attending the full day on 28th March.
What participants will gain:
This is a hands-on opportunity to collaborate, innovate, and create solutions that matter.
