Introduction to Dramatherapy
This is an intensive experiential weekend course that will introduce you to the discipline of dramatherapy with an emphasis on the moving body, projection techniques and ritual.
Dramatherapy is defined by the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapies as "the intentional and systematic use of drama and theatre processes to achieve healthy psychological growth and change."
During this weekend participants will be introduced to the main psychotherapeutic core processes inherent in Dramatherapy practice, with a focus on Embodiment, Witnessing and Projection. We will also explore ritual structures and somatic approaches to voice and movement.
The workshop will also focus on play and its many therapeutic benefits, and will introduce you to the intentional use of drama and theatre processes as a tool to bring about change and transformation. The weekend will conclude with a presentation of applied dramatherapy and a space for questions and answers.
Open to anyone with an interest in pursuing further studies in dramatherapy or interested in the creative arts therapies: drama facilitators, therapists, performers, teachers, etc
