Known for its sweeping high-elevation meadows, windswept spruce forests, rocky overlooks, and unique plant communities, Dolly Sods often feels more like Canada than Appalachia. Over the course of the weekend, we’ll trek through open heath barrens, cross clear mountain streams, and camp beneath some of the darkest skies in the region.

This trip is perfect for hikers looking to build backpacking experience while exploring one of the most distinctive landscapes in the Mid-Atlantic. Expect rugged trails, incredible views, and the kind of quiet that only comes from being deep in the wilderness.

Participants should be comfortable hiking several miles with a loaded pack and spending multiple days on the trail. Come ready for adventure, great trail conversation, and a weekend immersed in wild, beautiful country.

Trip Itinerary (approximate mileage):
Day 1: 10 miles
Day 2: 10–11 miles
Day 3: 6 miles

More details on mileage, gear, meeting logistics, and preparation will be shared with registered participants.

Cost: $75 per person (covers guide services).
Cancellations made within two weeks of the trip are non-refundable. To confirm your spot, please send the deposit to my Venmo (@KJOutdoors). I will confirm receipt within 2-3 business days.
