Have you ever wondered what the world would be like if the worry and fear of experiencing violence wasn’t the leading thought in our minds? 

If you answered “YES!” to either of these questions then we have an event for you!

We are inviting all who live and identify as a woman/girl/AFAB Enby person aged 13 and older to join us for a Book Club Discussion of The Power by Naomi Alderman followed by a 2 Hour WenDo Women’s Self Defense Course taught by Kristi Taylor of WenDo Women NY. This 2 part event will give you the opportunity to navigate the fantastical world created by Naomi Aldermen, where women and girls evolve to have electrical powers as a result of the rampant violence they are subjected to, and then participate in an accessible and practical self defense course to show you the amazing strength and power you personally possess!

Ticket holders will have access to both the book club discussion and 2 Hour WenDo Self Defense Course. WenDo is a feminist, anti-oppression, empowerment based self defense program that welcomes those of all physical abilities. Kristi believes we are all capable of defending ourselves in the bodies we are in exactly as they are today and welcomes the opportunity to help you experience the power of your mind, voice, and bodies through practical and easy to learn techniques. Attending the book club discussion will provide a space to examine the critical social structures that tend to be the primary barriers to self defense prior to the WenDo Course.
