Author Zach Lambert states, “Instead of leading to healing and wholeness, which has always been God’s intention for humanity, Scripture has been used to shame and scold, judge and condemn, marginalize and oppress. Far too many folks have experienced the Bible as a toxic text that causes more harm than good.

I started this journey because I came to believe that if our way of interpreting the Bible hurts people, then it must be reconsidered. The way of Jesus always leads to healing, not harm. Better ways to read the Bible exist, ways that lead to restoration, wholeness, and flourishing for all people. If you feel similarly and are ready to take a fresh look at the Scriptures, welcome to the journey. Let’s discover better ways of reading the Bible together.”

This is a safe book discussion where all people are welcome to chat and explore Zach’s text together. However, the emphasis of the book is turning the Bible from harm to healing, and if you don’t want to explore that goal openly please find other discussion spaces. 

Chris Cushman will be leading the discussion. Their bio reads: I’ve been on a journey learning what it means to follow Jesus for over a decade. In past years it has felt more complicated and difficult to find safe spaces to discuss and explore what it means to follow him in our world and community. I’m excited to step out of my comfort zone to try to gather people for real, meaningful conversations about Jesus and faith.
