The Last Howl is a heartfelt documentary feature film about a wildlife filmmaker and his wheelchair-bound brother travelling across the country sharing what they learn about wolf conservation, while recounting their twenty-year journey raising wolves.
The film features major music artists: Los Lobos provides the theme song ‘Will the Wolves Survive’; Blue Oyster Cult, an unreleased acoustic version of song ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’; and acclaimed composer Ronald Riddle, tracks from his prog-rock band Happy the Man, plus the original score.
Rowan Fisher, Director of Programming, of the Calgary Justice Film Festival says “We had very few animal rights films submitted this year. This film is of specific interest as it sparks a very important discussion about animal care and welfare and what that can look like. I appreciate very much it is Alberta produced. The Alberta Wilderness Association is sponsoring it and will speak at the event”.
After the next premiere on November 22nd at the Napier theatre, an after-party will be helf at Yavis Restaurant, 249 3rd Ave. W, Drumheller.
