Let's be KIND to our planet on World Earth Day 2019.
8 million tonnes of plastic ends up in the world’s oceans every year! Plastic is not so fantastic when it pollutes your favourite beach or the sea where you swim. That’s the ‘equivalent to five grocery bags filled with plastic for every foot of coastline in the world.
@kindenmark international community, in conjunction with The International Denmark newspaper, has creating an event to mark EARTH DAY on Sunday the 22nd of April 2019. We'll meet from 11:00 - 15:00 to clean a beach, the stunning beaches which stretch from Dronningmølle beach up to Hørnbæk. We'll walk the walk, talk the talk, collect any trash and take a mindful meditation by our beautiful ocean. The walk is mildly rigorous, so families please be aware that there's seven kilometres to cover. Bring refreshments, trash bags and gloves. Once in Hørnbæk you can take a train onwards, or back to your vehicles parked at Dronningmølle strand car park.
The event is ticketed for free, just to secure your place and participation. A donation will be made towards the Earth Day network. https://earthdaynetwork.salsalabs.org/maindonationform/index.html
KIND is following the lead taken by the Marine Litter Watch a European Environment Agency (EEA) initiative that aims to combat the plastic litter problem. It uses citizen science — scientific research conducted, at least partly, by members of the public — and mobile-phone technology to help individuals and communities come together to clean up Europe’s beaches. Volunteers use the Marine Litter Watch app to form communities that collect litter from beaches and send data on the items found to the EEA.
