- **Event Description**: Embark on an extraordinary journey with DownsSteam as we proudly present our "Brookstead Bound" steam train excursion! Departing from our Drayton station, prepare to be transported back in time as we traverse the breathtaking landscapes of grain and sunflower country enroute to the charming town of Brookstead. Experience the nostalgia of the olden days as the train is hauled by one our steam locomotives which sets the pace for an unforgettable adventure. As we meander through rolling fields and golden plains, immerse yourself in the beauty of the countryside and the timeless allure of steam travel. 

On arrival in the rural town of Brookstead, under the shadow of towering operational grain silos, passengers will detrain and board one of two heritage buses that will transport you to the Brookstead Community Hall where the Brooky Camp Oven Team will have an authentic camp oven meal prepared consisting of Shepherd’s Pie, Beef Stew and Lamb Curry with Damper. Sweets will be Apple Crumble served with tea and coffee. Soft drinks and beer will be available for sale.

The fabulous Pittsworth U3A Ukulele Group will be performing their joyful and fun music at the Brookstead Community Hall over lunch.

A special addition to the day will be a small collection of treasured vintage vehicles on display.

The total rail experience will last approximately 7.5 hours.  However, we encourage guests to arrive early and enjoy the premises before and after the trip.   

The ticket also includes museum entry, passengers may tour the precinct before or after their journey and view many of the great attractions DownsSteam has to offer.     
      
Tickets are $110 Adult, $80 Child under 16, $320 Family (2 adults and 2 children).  Infants under 2 and not requiring a seat are free.

DownsSteam is a community organisation, run by volunteers, dedicated to the establishment of a tourist heritage railway for the Darling Downs. DownsSteam was formed to preserve and restore the last remaining steam locomotive built at the historic Toowoomba Foundry Company, C16-106 Southern Cross Works No 28 circa 1914. Along with our two steam locomotives C16-106, and BB18¼ 1037, we have also restored the former Commissioner’s Inspection Railmotor.
