“Rhythm Plus+” will be presenting a mix of popular jazz standards as well as a few hidden gems from the swing era for your listening and dancing pleasure.
The line-up is:
- Paul Hendon (reeds, piano)
- Hannah Groves (vocals)
- Miguel Close (guitar, piano)
- Helen Russell (double bass)

Paul Hendon is enjoying travelling the country performing in various jazz festivals and clubs, including Adelaide & Goolwa SA, Melbourne, Port Fairy & Mildura VIC, Canberra, Newcastle, as well as Gold Coast, Brisbane, Caloundra, Noosa, Pomona & Hervey Bay in QLD.
He now leads five bands (one local, one SE Qld & three interstate), as well as freelancing with other bands. He is looking forward to this rare local appearance.
Vocalist Hannah Groves has been quietly spreading her wings, accompanying Paul to a few of the aforementioned gigs (77th Australian Jazz Convention, Port Fairy Jazz Festival & Noosa Jazz Club concert), where she has been very well received. Her lilting voice and relaxed style blend beautifully with the band.
Guitarist & pianist Miguel Close provides the heart of the rhythm section of this swinging & melodic group.
We are pleased to welcome guest double-bassist Helen Russell, who will have just returned from an extensive overseas trip.
Helen is a respected jazz educator, band leader and recording artist.

ENTRY: TJS Member $15, Non-members $20. Annual membership of Toowoomba Jazz Society is available on the night.

PARKING: Access the car park off Gipps Street, or there are parks in front of the bowling green in Ball Street, and access via the gate.

ENTRANCE: Up the steps from the car park on the southern side of the building or from the bowling green side. Disabled access ramp on the Western side (Gipps Street) and through the bar.
