- **Event Name**: Imagined Landscapes: Ink Marbling, Trees & Atmospheric Colour
- **Event Start and End Date**: Tue, 14 Jul, 2026 at 10:00 am – Tue, 14 Jul, 2026 at 03:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Ink marbling is full of movement, accident and beauty: a process where flowing marks can suggest mountains, clouds, water, trees and imagined worlds. In this one-day workshop, students will explore how to guide this spontaneous process into atmospheric landscape compositions.

We will begin with simple black-and-white studies, using tone and shape to develop intention before the marbling begins. Students will then create marbled ink grounds, using cut-outs to introduce tree silhouettes and horizon lines, contrasting organic flowing forms with sharper, more deliberate structures.

The compositions will be developed further through light ink washes and subtle glazes of colour, building depth, atmosphere and luminosity. Through observation, imagination and experimentation, students will learn how to create expressive landscapes while developing their own visual language and response to this unique process.

Prasad Beaven is a British visual artist whose practice explores landscape, imagination and perception through intuitive and process-led approaches. Working primarily with ink, marbling and water-based media, his work combines spontaneous mark-making with refined traditional techniques to create atmospheric, meditative landscapes.

He holds a BA in Illustration from the University of Brighton and an MA from The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts, where he specialised in traditional materials and practices. Prasad is the recipient of the Ciclitira Prize (2021), presented by HRH King Charles III, the Schmincke Award for Innovative Use of Watercolour (2024), and was a semi-finalist on Landscape Artist of the Year.

His work has been exhibited internationally, including a solo presentation at the Saatchi Gallery, and is informed by influences ranging from the Himalayan landscapes of his childhood to Chinese landscape painting, mythology and visionary art. Through his teaching, Prasad encourages students to balance technical understanding with experimentation, helping them develop confidencen, imagination and their own unique visual language.
