Hike Through History: Lost Six-Penny Creek Settlement

BHC’s Hike Through History series returns with an outdoor adventure at the Lost Six-Penny Creek Settlement and Recreation Area. Join hiking enthusiast Paul Schuman and French Creek State Park Environmental Education Specialist Jared Brandt as they lead participants through this historically rich site.

Explore the remains of the Six-Penny Creek Settlement, an African-American community with ties to the Underground Railroad, and discover a historic well once used by its residents. The hike also visits the recreation area built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), offering a unique combination of natural beauty and local history.

Cost: $10 for BHC Members • $20 for Non-Members

Location/Meeting Info: Union Township Recreation Area Parking Lot near Fork & Ale Resturant along Rte. 724 (1281 East Main Street, Douglassville, PA)
