# Event Details - **Event Name**: More Than Code: The Story of Code Club, with Owen Cutajar - **Event Start and End Date**: Tue, 06 Oct, 2026 at 05:30 pm – Tue, 06 Oct, 2026 at 06:30 pm (+01:00) - **Event Description**: How one person's passion became a Saturday club that beats the rest of the British Isles. A fireside chat with Owen Cutajar.About this EventIn 2022, two teams of Isle of Man teenagers went to London for a cyber security competition. They finished second out of roughly 400 teams from across the British Isles. They went back the following year and won it outright. This year, more Manx kids are competing in robotics competitions in California and Croatia. They came from a volunteer-run Saturday club with no payroll, no office, and £15 a year in membership. Owen Cutajar started it and still chairs it.He built all of it around a full-time career. This one is called "More Than Code" for a reason. It is not a talk about programming. It is a talk about turning a personal passion into something that outlasts you. What we will get into:The passion first: why he started it, and what he thought it would beGetting people behind an idea when you cannot pay any of themBuilding momentum on borrowed rooms, donated kit and £15 a yearThe bit nobody warns you about: keeping it alive after year twoWhere the island's next developers actually come fromWhat a close-knit island lets you build that a city genuinely does notThe honest version of what has not workedYou will leave with practical lessons in turning a personal passion into something that lasts: bringing people behind an idea, building momentum with limited resources, and making the most of the Isle of Man's close-knit community.Who it is for:Founders and builders. Anyone running something on the side of a job. Anyone who has ever said "someone should start a…" and then not started it. Technical or not, it does not matter.Free to attend. Will be recorded for YouTube.Where: Launchpad Event Space, Hillary House, Prospect Hill, Douglas, IM1 1EQWhen: Tuesday 6 October 2026, 17:30Hosted by Launchpad, the Isle of Man's Builder's Playground. - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/douglas/more-than-code-the-story-of-code-club-with-owen-cutajar/100002002064619170 - **Event Categories**: fitness, Business, Contests, Kids - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 0 - **Event Highlights**: - Duration: 1 hour - Location: Launchpad - Languages: English ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 0, max: 0, currency: GBP ## Event venue details - **city**: Douglas - **state**: IM - **country**: Man, Isle of - **location**: Launchpad - **lat**: 54.15047980000001 - **long**: -4.4808976 - **full address**: Launchpad, Prospect Hill, Douglas, Man, Isle of ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: More Than Code: The Story of Code Club, with Owen Cutajar - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events8/banners/1126172797e8281fb488f7574b146d9d4cdc72b7a5b5de1e68f738099e2f26c7-rimg-w1200-h600-dc083898-gmir.jpg?v=1790184667 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is More Than Code: The Story of Code Club, with Owen Cutajar being held? - **A:** More Than Code: The Story of Code Club, with Owen Cutajar takes place on Tue, 06 Oct, 2026 at 05:30 pm to Tue, 06 Oct, 2026 at 06:30 pm at Launchpad, Prospect Hill, Douglas, Man, Isle of. - **Q**: Who is organizing More Than Code: The Story of Code Club, with Owen Cutajar? - **A:** More Than Code: The Story of Code Club, with Owen Cutajar is organized by Launchpad. ## Structured Data (JSON-LD) ```json [ { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "Event", "name": "More Than Code: The Story of Code Club, with Owen Cutajar", "image": "https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events8/banners/1126172797e8281fb488f7574b146d9d4cdc72b7a5b5de1e68f738099e2f26c7-rimg-w1200-h600-dc083898-gmir.jpg?v=1790184667", "startDate": "2026-10-06T17:30:00+01:00", "endDate": "2026-10-06T18:30:00+01:00", "url": "https://allevents.in/douglas/more-than-code-the-story-of-code-club-with-owen-cutajar/100002002064619170", "location": { "@type": "Place", "name": "Launchpad", "address": { "@type": "PostalAddress", "streetAddress": "Prospect Hill", "postalCode": "IM1 1EQ", "addressLocality": "Douglas", "addressRegion": "IM", "addressCountry": "--" }, "geo": { "@type": "GeoCoordinates", "latitude": "54.15047980000001", "longitude": "-4.4808976" } }, "eventAttendanceMode": "https://schema.org/OfflineEventAttendanceMode", "description": "How one person's passion became a Saturday club that beats the rest of the British Isles.
