As part of the celebrations for Year of the Manx Language we are hosting an "UNESCO International Mother Language Day" multi-cultural celebration of community languages found here on the Isle of Man.
Our family friendly afternoon aims to bring together as many languages and cultures as possible to network, exchange language and learn some easy Manx!
We are delighted to be joined by representatives from Greece, Ukraine, The Philippines, South Africa, Bulgaria, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Lithuania and of course the Isle of Man! We hope many more nationalities will call in to say hello!
There will be two FREE Mini Manx workshops and one FREE Song workshop to join in with along with other activities:

• Meet “Mooinjer Veggey”, the Manx Language Nursery – find out more about what they offer and let your ‘Little People’ join in with some “Crafty Manx”!
• Tree of Words – Write a message or greeting on a leaf in your native language and add it to our language tree - let’s make it bloom!
• Discover how Tynwald is using the Manx Language in Parliament.
• Meet the team at Café Lingo and find out about their English language courses.
• Find out more about the work of the One World Centre and enjoy their stand featuring story books, fascinating cultural resources and some fun dress-up for kids.
• Free tea, coffee and bonnag! (A Manx tea-time treat) along with some other traditional bakes from around the world.
• Enjoy some traditional Manx tunes played on the harp.
• Make sure you use your visit to Douglas to visit local shops and cafes while you are here!
