Fundraising events such as these play a crucial role in raising awareness and vital funds for the charity. 

Despite the familiar Age UK name, Age UK North, South & West Dorset is a completely independent local charity, based in Poundbury. It receives no funding from the national Age UK charity, local authorities, or government sources. Instead, it relies solely on the generosity and support of the local community to continue its vital work. 

Events like our June walking challenge provide an essential opportunity to raise awareness, correct these misunderstandings, and engage directly with the community it serves. 

All Proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to local services, such as the charity’s Income Maximisation Team, which has already helped bring millions of pounds into the Dorset economy by ensuring older people receive the support they’re entitled to. This is a real example of local donations delivering local impact!
