- **Event Description**: Join us for a celebration lunch and conversation about the work of Rain Ready Calumet Corridor.About this EventJoin us for a celebration lunch and conversation about the work of Rain Ready Calumet Corridor, through which Cook County Government funded $6 million in coordinated investment in private homes, public spaces, and regional infrastructure through an innovative community-led prioritization process featuring community advisory committees in Blue Island, Calumet City, Calumet Park, Dolton, Riverdale and Robbins.Gap Funding​: RainReady team provided funds directly to contractors working on municipal GSI projects including 3 green alleys​ in Blue Island, 4 green alleys​ in Calumet City, and Winchester Avenue green street in Calumet Park.Design-Bid​: Greenprint Partners' engineering team has designed and is contracting to get projects in the ground including Stormwater bump outs at Sibley and Wentworth in Calumet City, the green schoolyard​ at Burr Oak Academy in Calumet Park and sidewalk construction/stormwater control along S Claire Blvd in Robbins.Residential Program​: Greenprint’s planning and program management team is standing up a program to fund retrofits at residential properties including 5 rain gardens, 12 rain barrels, and 13 overhead sewer lines​ in Riverdale and additional residential program with details TBD in Dolton.Rain Ready Calumet Corridor began with a resident-driven planning process facilitated by Center for Neighborhood Technology in 2016-17. Cook County Government recognized the vision and helped to make it happen with an investment of $6 million in federal American Rescue Plan funds after the COVID-19 pandemic, we are implementing projects in all six towns.This event will bring together nearly 100 members of six steering committees in Blue Island, Calumet City, Calumet Park, Dolton, Riverdale and Robbins who collectively held 18+ meetings over the past three years to evaluate and help priortize how to invest project funds. Local and county officials as well as other partners and supporters who came together to make this project a reality are also invited.The event we plan will mark the completion of the RainReady-Calumet Corridor project for community-led prioritization of green stormwater infrastructure by the six steering committees in Blue Island, Calumet City, Calumet Park, Dolton, Riverdale and Robbins.
