The Children’s Center of Northwest North Carolina is excited to host our First Annual Color for Change 5K at Fisher River Park in support of The Willow Tree Child Advocacy Center in Surry County.

This vibrant event goes beyond fitness—it’s about bringing color, hope, and healing to the lives of children in our community. This is more than a run—it’s a change.

The Willow Tree is a newly developed Child Advocacy Center created by the Children’s Center of Northwest North Carolina, working with a multidisciplinary team that includes local law enforcement agencies, the Department of Social Services, Guardian ad Litem, the District Attorney, and medical professionals. At The Willow Tree, every child has a safe, welcoming space to share their story, feel seen and heard, and know their voice truly matters.

Too often, children experiencing abuse or trauma struggle to find the words—or the courage—to speak up. The Willow Tree exists to change that. It is a place where children can tell their story in a nurturing environment, surrounded by people who believe them, support them, and advocate for their healing.

By participating in the Color for Change 5K, you are helping ensure that children in Surry County have access to this vital resource. Every step—and every burst of color—you take brings us closer to a community where no child feels silenced and every story is honored.
