# Event Details

- **Event Name**: Ramblin' Days
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 18 Oct, 2026 at 01:00 pm – Sun, 18 Oct, 2026 at 04:00 pm (-05:00)
- **Event Description**: It’s time for you to enjoy a completely new kind of experience at The Meadows Park Complex! Be there on Sunday, the 18th of October, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to take part in the genuinely historic community event called Ramblin’ Days.

Although our modern sports fields, playground, splash pad, and indoor courts at The Facility are open all year, the large backcountry part of Meadows Park has always been reserved solely for walking, cycling, and horse riding. However, for ONE DAY ONLY, we are opening the gates and allowing the public to explore the prairie, forest, and river by car.

For this special three-hour period, you are welcome to drive in, stroll around, and explore a one-of-a-kind 4-mile loop made of gravel and grass. This scenic route offers a rare chance to get a close look at our large 17-mile trail system and 13 miles of adventurous singletrack woodland loops.

The route follows the historic Illinois Central rail line from 1854, which forms the Lowell Parkway Trail and physically connects our present-day Meadows Park Complex to the original 1907 foundation of Lowell Park.

As you go, you can look out over our beautifully restored natural prairie, see the landscape from the viewing point above, and get brief sightings of the winding riverfront forests that make this land so wonderful.

If you've always lived in Dixon or if you're visiting for the first time, this is your special opportunity to get a real sense of the enormous size, depth, and beauty of your park district's most prized asset all from the convenience of your car. Bring the family in and drive in, explore, and let's create some history together.

We can't wait to ramble with you!
