Windmill Wilderness Trail Grand Opening and Hike

Our next hike will be at VanTassel Lake featuring the opening of the newly minted Windmill WIlderness Trail. Here are the details.
Join us on October 18 at 10 AM for the grand opening of the Windmill Wilderness Trail, hosted by the Fundy Erratics and the VanTassel Lake Trails Association (VTLTA).
This new trail section is the result of months of work by VTLTA volunteers and offers a closer look (but not too close!) at the wind turbines. We’ll gather in the VanTassel Lake Trails parking lot for a short ceremony before the hike.
The Windmill Wilderness Trail is a 1.4 km moderate loop with some elevation. As you would expect with a wilderness pathway, there is a variety of surfaces on the trail including roots and rocks. Along the way, enjoy great views of the turbines—and as a bonus, you’ll also catch a glimpse over the North Mountain to the Bay of Fundy.
After exploring the new trail, we’ll continue for about 2.5 km along the Lower Foundation Trail to the lake and around to Shady Lane. The total distance for both loops is approximately 4 km—a lovely meander through the cool forest.
Please wear sturdy footwear, bring water and a snack or lunch if you'd like to pause at the picnic area. Wear a bright coloured jacket or orange safety vest.
